Wow it’s already February! This is a perfect time to share some tips on how to warm yourself from the inside out. In general, I think we understand how to keep warm from the outside in, such as layers, turning up the heat, drinking hot beverages, adding some spice to your food, etc.
Here are some suggestions on how to produce more heat from the inside out
What can you do to bring a little more warmth into your brain and internal organs? The brain is the most powerful organ in your body…it runs the whole show. Research has found there are actually ways to “warm the brain”
Nostalgic thoughts help us fight the cold…basically, we can make our bodies “recreate” the feeling of being physically warm just by thinking of a happy time in our past.
The next time you feel yourself getting a little chilly, just think back on a past positive experience and you’ll find yourself feeling warmer in no time!
If a heater isn't an option, you might have to resort to thinking you feel warm.
The brain itself has high levels of metabolic activity, generating a significant amount of heat. The brain helps with all of the functions and systems…therefore producing tremendous amounts of energy….often too much!
It has been found that being in love often causes your brain to release the stress hormone cortisol, which can lead you to feel the heat….which brings us to the heart.
Another powerful tool is Breathing practices. They not only encourage circulation through the heart with more O2 getting into your bloodstream and brain, but it also promotes a feeling of lightness, clarity and a greater ability to focus and relax. Here is one to try: The 4,4,4 Breath
This practice is a calming breath….simply breathing in, holding your breath and breathing out for the same amount of time.
A warm heart and belly brings joy inside and out!
